This wonderful piece was found at the Goodwill in Woodland Park. It was stuck on a high shelf in a corner...I almost missed it! This work of art is handmade with paint and needlepointed yarn. The colors are wonderful, bright and cheery. On the back is written "Cathy Bixler made this for mother Loraine - March 68". This piece was $2.99!!!
Awesome! I have a pair of wall panels that are beaded birds. The 50s/60s were so cool. Someday I hope to be living in a atomic ranch-style home...filled with all my goodies! :)
Welcome to my blog! I'm a military wife left frequently to my own devices on the homefront. We are currently on deployment No. 3, but who's counting, really?
Anyway, while the hubby is away, the wife gets insanely bored. Despite three children who routinely take up 99% of my time, I find ways to cure the 1% I have left to myself.
My latest obsession is mid-century modern decorating. I'm beginning to fall in the love with the 50's and 60's. What a fun time to be a homemaker! All the funky, colorful, sometimes downright bizarre designs! All the clean, tight lines, interesting patterns, and beautiful real woods.
My favorite past time has always been browsing thrift stores in search of that hidden treasure, but now it's taken on a whole new purpose as I transform my home into a picture from the 60's. Now I carefully go through each aisle, looking for that little piece of the past to bring it all together.
This blog is dedicated to logging each and every little find with pictures and a small story as to how I found it. My hope is to gather histories about the items I've found, either through the internet, the library, or even from comments here.
So please, if you happen upon my Blog and see something you remember or know information about, feel free to leave a comment and tell me all about it! I'd love to hear from you!
